Secesyjny pomnik Fryderyka Chopina w Parku Łazienkowskim w Warszawie, przedstawiający odlaną w brązie postać kompozytora siedzącą pod mazowiecką wierzbą, zaprojektowany w 1907 roku przez Wacława Szymanowskiego.

Statue was designed by Wiesław Szymanowski in 1907 for its planned erection on the centenary of Chopin’s birth in 1910, but its execution was delayed by controversy about the design, then by the outbreak of World War I. The statue was finally cast and erected in 1926.
It was the first monument that was destroyed by the occupying Germans in Warsaw, in 31 May 1940 durig German occupation. Becuase Germans destroy all molds and documents it wasn’t easy to rebuild the monument.
A complete copy of the entire monument was found after removing rubble of the destroyed Szymanowski house.
If you come closer to the monument, from the trunk of a willow you will see that there are not only five tree branches, but also fingers arranged in the shape of the palm of the pianist.
In addition, if you use your imagination, you will see that willow over Chopin creates an image of the head of an eagle.
